We are thrilled to announce the winning proposals for both the HiFi shotgun metagenomics and Kinnex full-length 16S awards for the 2024 Microbial Genomics SMRT Grant.

This year’s 2021 Plant and Animal SMRT Grant award included the chance to characterize genetic variation in your favorite plant or animal species with HiFi sequencing performed on the ground-breaking Sequel IIe system, with bioinformatics support, SMRTbell library preparation and up to six SMRT Cells 8M.

We are proud to announce this year’s 2022 Plant + Animal SMRT Grant winners: Justin Conover, PhD. Joel Sharbrough, PhD. Coffea arabica makes up ~60% of the world’s coffee supply, but its allopolyploid genome has impeded efforts to characterize patterns of genetic variation and improve yield.
